Impressive Police Work
I always enjoy videos of police interacting with people. There’s something incredible about the exchange. The system of laws and governance under which we live applied in action with mixed results. Sometimes cops abuse their power, and I’m always pleased when they’re caught on film for our enjoyment. The video above however, shows an officer using surprising restraint, in what could have been a much more difficult situation. Good job Officer.
Ray Bans and a Cameleon
Those who know me well know I have a certain affinity for Ray Ban sunglasses. The kid in this video has a plethora of Ray Bans, but that’s not the most fascinating part of this video.
Duke Nukem: Literally Forever
In 1996 3D Realms began a video game which has become the biggest joke and myth of the industry: Duke Nukem Forever. Think for one second on the fact that the game has been in development for over 12 years, with its most recent marketing push coming in 2007. Today, after all these years, the public learns that 3D Realms is closing its doors, with Duke remaining unreleased.
At this time it’s unknown whether the game will ever see the light of day, and perhaps its unlikely that it will. But the journey has been epic, and the humour and irony surrounding the games development has perhaps more enjoyable than the game ever could be.
Shacknews has a great article on the history of the game you can view here.

Accountability in the Modern Age
I understand when some celebrities choose to get strange in interviews, especially when they seem to have a specific goal in mind – Joaquin phoenix for instance. But in the interview above I believe Billy Bob acts a fool merely because the interviewer introduced him as first a movie star, then a musician.
Billy Bob’s band cancelled the rest of their Canadian dates after this aired, so I guess not all publicity is good publicity.
It’s interesting to me just how quickly bizarre experiences like this are shared and broadcast. The 5 o’clock news has nothing today that the savvy internet user hasn’t seen or read by lunch.
PSST3: films online!

Don’t expect to get much done once you start watching these films.
PSST is a collaborative effort between a (massive) number of creative studios and individuals as a way to get creative without the demands of commercial contractual work. Each film is comprised of 3 different sections, each created by a different group of people. Seeing how each group runs with the ideas and imagery of the preceding film is very interesting and sometimes downright strange. A number of the innovations pioneered in these films will find their way into televsion commercials and high profile adverts. If you are into motion design or animation, checking out these project is a must.
There are a number of films to choose from: let me know what your favourites are. what style speaks the most to you? which video do you think is the best showcase of technical skill?
My favourites include:
Tranquility Fat Yak Happy Fun Show
Canvas Disquietude Vestige
Words Lucid King of Empty
