That’s a wrap! Meet Me in the Street celebrates its third and final event in AmCan

As this summer officially comes to an end, so does American Canyon’s Meet Me in the Street.
Thousands of visitors turned out in American Canyon on Wednesday, from up and down the valley, to buy, sell, eat and enjoy the city’s last bash of summer. The street, filled with booths, smelled of barbecue and sounded of foot traffic and friendly chatter.
Everything was on display. Russell and Kelly Blackwell stood outside The Kindness Mobile, a roving thrift shop whose profits go to single mothers.

Roberta and her friend sat in front of their large display of handmade hand towels, cheaper than one could imagine. The sale of each one goes to the American Cancer Society (ACS).
The list of phenomenal people only widened as you walked between the vendors — the magician “Big Al” Alcatraz, the rainbow-colored dancers, the high school volunteers, the parents, the teachers, the kids, the chefs. They — and their heart — are what makes American Canyon a community.

“I’m proud of the crowd that comes out every single month.” said Valerie Zizak-Morais, CEO of the American Canyon Chamber of Commerce, which organizes and hosts this event throughout the summer. “It grows larger as we continue through the summer. Even though it’s the first day of school, I’m really excited that our community still sees the value of Meet Me in the Street.”
This last hurrah, on the final second Wednesday of the month, was an enormous success, thanks to all of its passionate participants and visitors. When asked how each person would describe the event, these were the words the people chose:
Fun, cool, fantastic, happy, joyful, sunny, amazing, lively, exciting, chill, crowded, okay, interesting, good, nice, fabulous, green, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and community.
See you next year!
