Welcome to This Week, Next Week, a brief guide to things going on in American Canyon this week and next week.

This week, Tuesday Aug. 19, at 6:30 p.m., the American Canyon Scouts are going to the moon, and you can go too. At the Boys and Girls Club, two local scout troops will lead community rocket building during the scout’s open house. Attendees can mingle, build rockets, and eat frozen rocket treats, all while learning about their astronaut potential.

The city council meeting scheduled for this Tuesday was cancelled earlier this week. The meeting has been rescheduled, and the next meeting will take place on Sept. 2.

Climate concerned citizens: The Regional Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (RCAAP) is out and open for public comment. This Thursday, Aug. 21, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., there will be an open house at American Canyon’s Public Library for people who want to give and hear feedback about the RCAAP, and the climate impact on American Canyon and the county as a whole. You can RSVP ahead of time here for that event.

Where are my sports fans? ACHS begins fall sports this week with a few home games for girl’s volleyball and men’s football. Girls varsity volleyball has a home match this Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. versus Windsor. Men’s football has a 4-way scrimmage at home this Saturday evening starting at 6:30 p.m. GO WOLVES!

What’s all that beautiful noise? The One Ten Restaurant & Bar is hosting free live music this week on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 22 and 23. On Friday, all ages are welcome to attend, and music starts at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, the music returns from 7-10:30 p.m.

Skaters awaken! This Saturday morning, Aug. 23, there’s a park clean-up at the skate park on Broadway from 9 a.m. to noon.

Next week, look out for a Tacos and Trivia night on Thursday, Aug. 28, and also be sure to keep an eye out for two city meetings, one on Tuesday and one on Thursday. The Wolves football starts their season next week as well with an away game at 7 p.m. on Thursday versus Will C. Wood High School in Vacaville.

That’s all folks!
