A family was displaced Tuesday after a fire of unknown origin tore through their house in the 100 block of Sirah Drive near American Canyon High School. The fire remains under investigation.

“At this point, everybody is OK,” said Laura Provencher, communications rep for the fire department. Only minor injuries were recorded, she said. A video on social media shows flames and smoke billowing high into the air from several yards away on the sunny afternoon.

Provencher added, “The house is not livable.” The fire displaced the household, which was given temporary shelter that night by the American Red Cross.

Multiple calls were made by neighbors, with the first call recorded at 3:21 p.m., Provencher said. American Canyon Fire was at the scene by 3:23 p.m. — a two minute response time. Crews from Vallejo Fire and Napa County Cal Fire came to assist in putting out the blaze, with Napa Fire providing station coverage while local crews were on the scene.

The fire was out by 3:43 p.m. At this time, there is no known fundraiser or additional support requested for the fire victims. If one is made, the American Canyon Current will be the first to report it.
