Wolfpack cross country freshmen take the lead

The American Canyon High School Cross Country competed in the Vine Valley League (VVAL) Center Meet #3 on Wednesday, Oct. 22. It featured six total schools, including Casa Grande, Justin Sienna, Napa, Vintage and Petaluma. Napa placed first as a team for the men’s race, while Vintage placed first for the Women’s race.

American Canyon’s freshmen shone. Freshman Allyse Aliga led the Wolves with a time of 23:09, followed very shortly by Senior Breanna Dayrit (23:15), and Junior Bianca Padilla (23:17). On the men’s side, freshman Simon Reyes finished with a time of 17:46, narrowly missing the school record of 17:40 set by Justin Chang back in 2018. 

The Junior Varsity Boys placed fourth as a team, with Junior Miles Johnson-Peterson leading the Wolves with a time of 21:11. The JV girls placed second as a team, led by Sophomore Anya Fernandes who took fifth place overall with a time of 26:17. 

The next event for American Canyon Cross Country is the Napa Valley Showdown which takes place Wednesday, Oct. 29 at the Napa Golf Course.
