Brief: Three arrests, three unregistered Glocks in AC

American Canyon Police recover guns in separate arrests Thanksgiving week
November was busy for our local police department. In an email today, American Canyon Police Lieutenant Nicol Dudley told the Current that “These cases were the result of proactive law enforcement work by our deputies.” Last week saw three unrelated vehicle searches that turned up three unregistered guns and cocaine in a 24-hour window.
On Nov. 23, A 23-year-old American Canyon man was booked in Napa County Jail at 11:40 p.m. following a traffic stop on Highway 29. Officers stopped the vehicle after the man ran a red light and was without a front license plate. According to American Canyon Police, officers “observed an open tray of marijuana in the front seat and, during a subsequent search, located a loaded, unregistered Glock 27 firearm” in a backpack.
The next morning, Monday, Nov. 24, a 21-year-old Oakland man was apprehended at Shenandoah Park following a search of his vehicle, which displayed two different license plates. After observing an open container of marijuana, officers searched the car and found “a loaded Glock 22 .40 Caliber, unregistered firearm on the floorboard.” The man was released that afternoon.
That evening, a 24-year-old Benicia man was stopped near Highway 29 and Mini Drive by officers who suspected he was driving a stolen car. The suspect fled on foot and hid in a nearby shopping center. When officers detained him, they found “a loaded, unregistered Glock 17 firearm equipped with an extended magazine” as well as cocaine. The Benicia man remains in Napa Sheriff custody and faces six charges. His bail is set at $50,000.
“The Napa Sheriff’s Office is committed to proactive law enforcement work to help keep our community safe,” said Lt. Dudley. We’ll see what December brings.
