Wolves winning streak continues! AC battles for first in league!

Entering senior night relatively early compared to previous years doesn’t phase the team one bit, putting on a show for the packed home stands Friday night. After going down a touchdown early to the Petaluma Trojans, the Wolves kicked off a stream of scores, beginning with a 73-yard touchdown pass from Kameron Hunter to Webster Burks.
Following shortly after, Isaac Anderson ran for two more scores, one from 44-yards out and the other from 11 yards out. Finishing out the half, Kameron Hunter and Webster Burks connected once again to score as time expired to extend their lead to 21. Hunter would finish the game with a career high 186 passing yards and 2 passing touchdowns.
The second half didn’t fare much better for the Trojans, only being able to score one more time in the 4th quarter. Marcus-Jasiri Hughes would finish off the scoring for the Wolves with a 4-yard touchdown run. By the end of the game, the Wolves walked away with 449 yards of total offense, 5 touchdowns, and a 35-14 victory over Petaluma High School.
Defense especially lived up to expectations for the Wolves, giving up 226 yards rushing, -4 yards passing, and just 14 points, all season lows for the Trojans. The defense also recorded 2 interceptions, one each for Cole Gholar and Jamar Choyce, in addition to 4 forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and 3 tackles for loss.
When asked how the defense managed to pull things together after the first drive, Defensive Coordinator Michael Chisley responded, “We had great eyes in the booth with Coach Josh [Staedler] and we were able to make some effective adjustments after the first series. I also believe the players executed the game plan and in game adjustments very well.”
He went to say, “We have a special group of guys that play hard and smart football. Once they recognize and understand what the offense is trying to do they’re able to adjust as needed and they’ve been doing a good job of that all season.”
With the win, the Wolves moved to 6-1 in the year and 3-0 in league. The Trojans fall to 5-3, and 2-2 in league. Looking ahead to the next matchup, the Wolves take a short ride to Memorial Stadium in Napa to take on the Napa High Grizzlies, who enter the contest 2-5 overall, and 0-3 in league play. Kickoff is set for Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
The Junior Varsity Wolves come away with an even more dominant victory, blowing out the Junior Varsity Trojans 42-7. The JV Wolves opened with an 11-play, 65-yard drive capped off with a touchdown, and continued scoring almost every time they touched the ball thereafter.
The win brings the JV Wolves to 6-1 on the season, with the JV Trojans falling to 6-2. Coming up next week the JV Wolves take on the well-coached 4-3 Napa Grizzlies, who look to bounce back after dropping the last three games. Kickoff is set for Oct. 24 at 4:30 p.m.
Thursday the Freshman Wolves take home the victory as well, besting the Rancho Cotate Cougars 38-14. Justin Goss and Bishop Newell would combine for a total 31 carries for 305 rushing yards and 4 total touchdowns in the dominant victory.
